Import and Export
Namibia provides incentives for industries, particularly those that add value to local commodities.
The country provides access to the other 14 member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The region of the economic bloc has a population of approximately 280 million. Physical trade is managed by the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, which oversees the transportation corridors to the SADC markets.
Namibia also has duty-free access to the Southern African Customs Union (SACU). A wide range of trade agreements have been signed with several African blocs and nations. These include AGOA with the US, EU-EPA and the Cotonou Agreement between the European Union and the ACP countries.
The main manufacturing sectors in the country focus on meat processing, fish processing, other food and beverages, and mineral processing. The latter represents largely the smelting of copper and zinc ore, gold, uranium and the cutting and polishing of rough diamonds. On average, the manufacturing sector grows about 5.6% per year.
